PISONET BUSINESS

Today, we went to a cousin's place in Novaliches to get a ‘sample’ pisonet device for my PC. What exactly is a pisonet? Well, it’s like a coin slot machine that you attach to a computer (thru the USB slot) so that each PC user would need to insert a one-peso coin to avail of four minutes of internet use. Quite simple, huh? What is just needed is to secure the device firmly to prevent anyone from taking off with it and all your coins! It does not really need a fixed ‘bantay’ like an actual internet shop so it would mean less cost on our part. And neither does it need a resident technician since if the unit is working well and the broadband signal is steady, it could very well operate on its own. Well, sounds good right? This is why when my cuz offered to ‘give’ me one for free; I readily took him up on his offer and went with the hubby to get it.

Kuya T was very accommodating and taught the hubby and me how to install the device in our PC. He even showed us around and I saw he had about more than 20 PCs in his shop. I told him we had plans of having one like that someday but since we don’t have a budget for it yet we’d have to settle for the pisonet first - who knows it just might click in the province. He also showed us the ‘crème dela crème’ of his business – where he gets the money to buy his own van! Nope it’s not the inet shop itself, but a ---- machine! Imagine that?!?

Well, I hope we’d be taking this one significant step for a real business of our own, there are just so many business ventures we started but did not prosper: 1) to construct a store (where we don’t even get a single centavo as rent!), 2) to fund buy and sell ventures (for some who bought stuff from DVs and sold as pahulugan) but as usual, I never got any money back, 3) to care for animals like pigs (though it never really prospered because pigs would often get diseases but admittedly it earned a bit while it lasted!) So I hope that this time, something good would come out of it. Here’s wishing lotsa luck for us in this new venture!

P.S. During the weekend, we went home to BP for a birthday celebration. The hubby and I also took the time to go to SM to file our application for a Smart broadband, the application went smoothly and didn’t require much supporting documents/papers to be processed. They said the line would be installed within the week and by then we would be able to start our initial operations! Hurrah!

P.S. 2 The attached picture on the left is not one of our pisonet but rather this was posted by said entrepreneur/cousin who gave me my very first pisonet. What I got from him was the coin slot type (pic on the right) that can be attached to an already existing PC. I think the arcade-type (with PC included) costs something between 15 - 20K and I don't have that much money yet.
