ANTI-BILL SHOCK...?
This morning I got a surprising, well, actually the more apt word is SHOCKING text from Globe that I have already incurred almost 3k in internet charges...WTF!?!?! How the hell could that happen when I have just been using the Samsung Galaxy Tab for like 7 days??? I don't understand this at all! I knew I learned my lesson when last year during Kit's first month of using the new plan with his Galaxy Y, he unknowingly incurred very high (like 1800 worth) of internet charges because he failed to turn off the GPRS when he wasn't using the internet. So I called Globe then to seek their understanding and lucky for me that they understood since it's our first time. But they warned us that now that they taught me to turn off the packet data when not using the internet, they would not be so lenient the next time.
And so upon arrival at the office, I immediately called Globe to ask them what the heck was going on, I even asked if maybe they made a mistake and sent me the wrong message. But after a brief check with their records, they confirmed my worst fear - my bill has gone up again after just a month hiatus, and it seems these blasted GPRS charges are wreaking havoc on my phone bill charges?!? I told them that I just changed phones a week ago and how could it be possible that I incurred 3k of internet usage in just 7 days when I regularly check if my packet data is on and just use the free wifi of our office. They said that the culprit may have been fluctuation in the wifi, since most phones automatically revert to data charging every time the wifi signal falters.
And so I had no choice but to have my data charging cut completely! I would just have to use my prepaid sim and use supersurf if I want to go online. It would be my only remaining option if I didn't want this thing to ever happen again. I don't think their anti-bill shock plan of 999 per month is a viable option for me since I have wifi in the office. Oh well, I guess it's a wee bit of sacrifice that I have to make for my own peace of mind. Here's hoping I won't have to go through this harrowing experience again!
