Finally, a day at home to rest! It’s quite difficult you know, shuttling from one place to another this Holy Week but it is necessary to pacify everyone – we need to go to BP at least for a few days to satisfy the hubby and then travel to wherever it is the family would decide to spend its Holy Week for mine and the kids’ sake. We spent a fun-filled weekend at Tagaytay this year but it still feels great to be home. Even if there are so many things waiting – like the laundry and the pets' cages needing to be cleaned. These are the things that had to be done, there’s just no way to avoid it lest the house go to such disarray. I can’t just totally clean the rabbit cages though because the bunnies may get wet. By the way, here are pictures of the bunnies - the first pic was taken just three or four days after they were born and they were just starting to grow some hairs. But in the last pic, taken after ten days, they’re getting to be so cute! I just wish we didn’t have to give them all away! But as it is, we don’t have the space and the finances to keep another pet. So I’ll just take their pictures while they’re still here with us.

WHITEY'S NEW BABIES
Two days ago, Whitey became a mother again for the fifth time and this time surprisingly is her largest litter to date - 9 baby bunnies! Yup you got that right - 9 little ones! Just too bad though that one of them was born dead and another was found wounded in the head died this morning, but still 7 bunnies! I just hope each one of them survives. Because if you could recall, just last month Whitey gave birth to seven bunnies who all died after falling from the crevices in Whitey's cage. I found six of them the next morning scattered along the watery canal where they died from the cold, since their bodies were left in the water for so long - poor little bunnies! While, the only one left inside the cage was all mangled up and torn to pieces. I guess the last one was murdered by Whitey herself after hearing her babies crying for help and yet feeling helpless about it, unable to do anything to save them. Maybe, she blamed the surviving one for letting the others fall off and vented her anger at it. But of course, I'm only speculating here. I don't really know for sure what indeed happened because I wasn't there but soundly sleeping. Let's just hope that this time Whitey would be a better mom and not hurt her kits since rabbits are known to do that sometimes, if they are agitated or angered by something. I hope that this time all seven remaining bunnies grow big and strong in the next few days. I will keep you posted. Meanwhile, here's a pic of the bunnies taken this morning.

NEW BUNNIES…FOR SALE!
It is exactly one month since our new bunnies were born and I’m very sad to say that one more died a week after they were born so we’re now down to just five bunnies. But thankfully all of them are quite healthy and are eating quite a lot already so I believe it’s high time we dispose of them once again. Just too bad for us because they’re all so cute and we have grown quite attached to them already. Anyway, we decided to sell them this time so that we’ll have some money to continue buying feeds for their parents – Whitey and Brownie. I just wish someone would buy them. I asked at a pet shop at Robinson’s recently and they say they’re selling bunnies for 450 a pair - what??? That much??? I guess we’d just be selling ours for only 300 a pair or even 200 – that’s a reasonable enough amount, don’t you think?

WHITEY’S NEW BABIES
Last night upon arriving home, the kids told me that Whitey has started to tear off some hair from her chest, a sure sign of nesting, in preparation for childbirth. And I was suddenly taken aback because I have seen that her tummy is still way too small to be pregnant. I began counting back to May 10 and indeed today is 30 days after they mated. Still, I watched her closely and I saw her exhibiting the same signs like the last time when she gave birth – digging the floors of her cage as if she wants to bury something and tearing off hair and carrying them in her mouth to a corner of her cage. I helped her make a nest of shredded newspaper. Then, I monitored her progress at 1 am and then again at 3am and finally at 5am but she still hasn’t given birth. So I thought for a time it may be a false pregnancy!
Then today, just as we were leaving for AFPOVAI at 10 am, I saw that Whitey had finally given birth to only three kits (so that’s why her tummy is too small!) But the sad thing is the other two babies died, I am just not sure why??? Maybe she stepped over them because one was so bloodied and seemed squished but maybe they were not really properly formed so that’s why they were too small. I would have wanted to properly nourish her first after her first childbirth that is why I didn’t want her to get pregnant yet. I guess her body just wasn’t ready to nourish another litter of bunnies just yet - so now we know! Next time we better wait a few months when she’s ready before letting her mate again.

NEW BUNNIES!
I went on leave today so I could attend my daughter’s Linggo ng Wika presentation at school. My daughter and I ate a leisurely breakfast then we got ready for her program – bath, dress, fix her hair, then make-up. Left at around 11 but it turns out their program will be starting at past 12 pa! She can’t leave pa naman so I could feed her something to eat kasi their dance number was last pa! The program ended by 3 and off we went (after dressing up, of course!) to eat at a nearby Jollibee store ….but the real highlight of our day today – WE BOUGHT SOME CUTE BUNNIES – at a nearby rolling pet store! YIPEE! I just knew the hubby is not going to like this but hey they were just so adorable…my daughter still do not know what to name them but I just knew we are just gonna have fun with our new pets!
P.S. By the way, here's a pic of my daughter in costume for their Linggo ng Wika event...hehehe
